    Final day - Pennines Bridleway - Settle to Kirkby Final day - Pennines Bridleway - Settle to Kirkby Stephen 45 Miles and 1550 mtrs climbing.

A rough and brutal start!! Very steep farmland from the start out of #settle.

Very shaky from 3 days of short chain carbs and poor energy conversion 😵‍💫 #hashimotos 

But my equal fave day - total isolation for most of the day and stunning limestone crag land, picnics, steam trains, Chilled out Bulls and Frisky Horses blocking the gates,  Donkey  nuzzles, birds and some crazy sections. 

180 miles and 5,996 mtrs ascent of the most beautiful changing landscapes and nature -
What a privilege to get inside it ❤️

46 miles and 1700 mtrs climbing. 

An epic waaaahoooo day!

Full of Birds - Skylarks, Curlews, owls, cuckoos, Kestrels  and Wheatears. 

Fave day so far. Stunning secluded Moors out of Hebden Bridge, fast flowing downhills with achievable climbs without backwards conveyor belts of sliding rocks- yesterdays climbs. 

Plunging down off the Dales into Settle to our magnificent home for the night.

Last day tomorrow into Cumbria.

Glossop to Hebden Bridge via the reservoirs and beautiful towns and villages nestled low below in the valleys. 

Who knew these vistas existed! 

39 miles and 1222 mtrs of technical tough black ascents …

Some tough black ups and downs today and 3 punctures … slow going but with beautiful scenery to entertain along the way ❤️

Swapped 300 mtrs of climbing for a very joyful canal diversion for the last 5 miles to make up some time, meet the locals and have a beer 🚴‍♀️🚴🏼🚵🏻‍♀️🍺

205 miles away from the maddening world… somewhere between 6000 and 8000 mtrs of climbing depending on who you believe.

Carbs, rehydration salts and protein recovery packed … plus 20 bananas to arrive!

Hopefully this little lot will see us through some of Englands finest scenery ❤️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Many patients are not prescribed the treatment we so desperately need.

The NHS often only prescribes one of the missing hormones - T4, expecting our enzymes to convert T4 into the active Hormone T3.

This is not the case for around 10% of us, so, we remain desperately unwell, or we source help privately.

The sad thing is, the NHS won't test T3 as standard as they're unaware that they actually can prescribe...but it's a postcode lottery and requires a battle when we're already at our lowest eb.

With full thyroid panel blood tests, you gain the full picture as to what's happening with your health - you have to insist on T3, T4 and TSH being tested and accept nothing less, but please make friends with your GP whilst you do this! 

In my case, I had to go privately and within 1 day of taking the right medication and having the right blood tests, it was like having the curtains opened on my life. It still takes months to get back on track as the damage has been done to every organ and cell. 

My amazing Endocrinologist and equally lovely GP managed to convince the CCG that it was essential to be prescribed T3. 

Try and work with your GP to make this happen if you're not getting any better on T4 alone.

    It's International Thyroid Awareness Day today... It's International Thyroid Awareness Day today... what's that I hear you say?? Well, if you don't know what the Thyroid Gland is, you're lucky!

This little lot, along with my 3 implants for POI Hormone replacement therapy, pretty much keep me alive as I live with Hashimoto's Autoimmune Disease.

They keep my business running, my friends and family a part of me, and they mean I get to have a good life, most of the time! But it took a lot to get to this stage.

My pill alarm goes off at 5.30am every day and will for the rest of my life as these little fella’s support what my Thyroid can no longer do as my immune system has attacked it.

I then have to fit in another 2 rounds throughout the day 2 hours post food or 1 hour pre food... COMPLICATED! Especially as I need to eat every 45 minutes when cycling training for events. 

The Thyroid plays a major role in the metabolism, growth, and development of the human body.  Without these hormones, we literally have no energy, every organ slows down, including the heart and the brain. 

3 stone is the average weight gain for someone with Hashimoto's - Not only is our metabolism slower but we often have Chronic Fatigue and find it difficult to exercise.

I am lucky, I know how to look after myself with adapted exercises and additional rest. Pilates has been my best friend through all stages of my life. From climbing mountains on bikes to simply being able to climb the stairs or get up in the morning.

Pilates can be adapted to work with whatever energy level or joint pain you have. Whilst you might not want to do anything if you have Thyroid Disease, I can promise you, the feel-good factor of endorphins and increase blood circulation helping to break down inflammation WILL make you feel better.

Strength training WILL help you with your metabolism (the more muscle you have, the better your metabolism works).

Each day is a stepping stone that you can build on with your wellness.

I am back to moving mountains and cycling through them! It's been a journey and will continue to be so.

He’s 90 this year 💙 he pulls off ‘The One Hundred’ better than some of my 30 year olds… 

Controversial  I know but who am I to stop him at play?  I of course guide why loaded flexion might not be the best at this stage 🫣

He’s been with me for around 10 years. 

As well as a rich career in the #raf, he was head of the #clematis society and appeared on @bbcgwlive a couple of years back as he has more variations of clematis than anyone on the country…

He lightens up the room in many ways and shares himself and his knowledge with us. Today  it was with a pose of early flowing clematis 💐🥀

I gain as much from my clients as they gain from me ❤️💙 thank you Mike!

    The sports based class in action! They are a mix o The sports based class in action! They are a mix of #runners, #cyclists and #hockey players. 

We spend each term focusing on different elements of their fave sports… rehab, prehab, off setting, Hiit sessions and working them in the positions,  they spend long periods of time in. 

Always with a focus on #extension. Which from a runners perspective is where they gain their power and drive from.

We spent half of this session lengthening out fascia, charging it up with some fascia recoil work (bouncing off walls!!) and then practised varying running drills to feel the propulsion from the kinetic energy stored in the fascia.

Some of them were bounding like kangaroos! 

Hip extension is a key element to being able to run efficiently whilst looking after your lower back… we spend a lot of time with #pilates exercises opening out the hips.

If the hips don’t extend…. The lower back will for every stride you take… OUCH!! 

We also worked on #ankling but that’s another post!
