For me, Pilates is like a “wardrobe of life” offering an adaptable tool for every stage, energy level, and condition.

I’ve always been fascinated by how the human body works. My love of movement began early through competitive diving and running, and later grew into a passion for skiing, mountain biking, and cycling some of the world’s most challenging mountain routes. Like many active people, years of intense sport combined with long hours in a corporate role eventually took their toll on my body.
That was when I discovered Body Control Pilates — and everything changed. Through intelligent movement, breath, and alignment, Pilates taught me how to move with less effort, more efficiency, and far greater awareness. It allowed me to stay active, recover more effectively, and continue doing the things I love without constantly pushing against pain or fatigue.
During a period of significant health challenges + multiple surgeries, Pilates became far more than exercise — it became my anchor. It supported my recovery, rebuilt my strength, and gave me a way to remain connected to my body when everything else felt uncertain. That experience now sits at the heart of how I teach: with empathy, precision, and deep respect for the body’s capacity to adapt and heal.

This journey led me to create The Menopause Couch© Ltd, a space dedicated to supporting women through change, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. My work draws on over 12 years of teaching, alongside training in low back pain, neuro-movement, Hypopressives, biomechanics, and breathwork. I blend clinical understanding with holistic insight, so every client is met where they are — not where a generic programme says they should be.
I often describe Pilates as a “wardrobe for life”: something you can draw from at every stage, in every season, and through every change. It’s adaptable, intelligent, and endlessly supportive — just like the body itself when it’s guided well.
Today, I use this approach to help people move with more confidence, less pain, and greater trust in their bodies — not just in the studio, but in life.
With Warm Wishes
Claire
