I booked on to the ‘Mindfulness and Pilates Retreat’ with a friend, we both needed ‘me time’ and ‘time out’ and it was a fabulous day. Very informative and professional, and at the same time relaxing and revitalising. Claire and Kath organised the day very well and it was all we had hoped for. The setting at St Ethelwolds house is wonderful, a perfect location.  would recommend the day’s retreat and will certainly be going to the next one they organise if I can. Jane

The Location 

St Ethelwold’s House originally belonged to Dorathea Pickering, she wanted it to become a place for people to gather for meditation, and times of quiet reflection. And it has, we’re delighted to be hosting our first retreat here.

In the first of 2nd of the planned retreats for 2019, Kath and Claire are very excited to present:

Move and Soothe :

We’re all looking forward to June and summer getting under way. Flowers are blooming, the sun is shining (hopefully) and our minds and bodies are enjoying better movement from the warmth and colour of the season.

June is the perfect time of year to harvest plants and make the most of their natural healing properties. For our second retreat we have invited our special friend Medical Herbalist Sam Entwisle to come along and create some potions to soothe your skin and comfort your senses.

Soothe your mind, body, and soul.

This retreat will be a full filled and interactive day providing you with several sessions focussing on different aspects of your wellbeing.

We will be making the most of the beautiful garden at St Ethelwold’s House for some  Al Fresco Pilates, as well as exploring plants with healing properties.

June is normally associated with a joyful time of year. However, some of us do suffer from seasonal allergies and irritation from insects. Sam’s herbal first aid workshop will explore using natural remedies to alleviate some common minor ailments.

An interactive session that provides you with knowledge you can apply within your own garden as well as a little handmade (by you) herbal goodie to add to your Movement and Mindfulness gift bag.

You will be creating a healing balm with Sam’s expert guidance, to take home and use yourself.

By the end of the day, you will have been enlightened to the jewels that lay with your own garden that you can utilise for your herbal well being. As well as meeting some lovely likeminded people to share your practice with.

Numbers are strictly limited to make sure all our participants get the maximum benefit from their Retreat Day.

This retreat will provide you with an opportunity to:

  • Release tension and strengthen from the inside out with Claire’s Pilates repertoire 
  • Step off the world for the day using the creative parts of your mind to learn about the power of the nature that grows freely in your gardern
  • Gain deep relaxation and recuperation using Kath’s mindfulness techniques
  • Build on your dossier of  movement,  mindfulness and DIY herbal skills to utilise at home

A warming vegan lunch will nourish your body from the inside too!

Suitable for all levels.

We will start the day with a gentle wake up session in the garden (Weather pending!) to get each and every bit of your body moving. Encouraging sound breathing to nourish all the cells in your body, ready for the day ahead. 

The afternoon session :  Claire will work you through a repertoire that takes you on a journey throughout your body. Releasing, lengthening, mobilising joint by joint whilst firing up your core and leaving you with a spring in your step.

Claire will provide you will a mat.  Please bring a blanket.


Kath will help you explore simple meditation and mindfulness techniques in a safe setting. You will be able to take what you have learned and put it into practice in your own life using tips, suggestions and links provided on the day.

Sam Entwisle BSc (Hons) MNIMH DTLL 

Sam is a qualified medical herbalist and teacher based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. Her training included a four year BSc (Hons) degree in herbal medicine at Middlesex University and over 500 clinical hours at the

Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine in London. Sam has been a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists since her graduation in 1999 and now mentors postgrad students as they set up their herbal medicine practices.  Find out more at www.samtheherbalist.com

Plan for the day

9.30am                                    Arrive, welcome tea and coffee.

10 – 10.30am                        Wake up your body with gentle stretching

10.30am -12.30pm              Herbal first aid kit workshop with Sam  

12.30 – 2pm                           Gorgeous Vegan food by Too Perfection

2 – 3pm                                   Group activities Pilates or Meditation

3 – 3.30pm                             Break for drinks

3.30 – 4.30pm                       Group activities Pilates or Meditation

4.30 – 5pm                             Tea and cake, collect your goody bag

Do make sure you bring a notebook, Sam has an encyclopedic knowledge of herbs and remedies and she loves to share her wisdom.

Who is this course suitable for?

Move and Soothe is perfect for all levels, genders and all physical conditions.

Don’t worry if you’re not a Millstream Pilates client, we will send on an enrolment form.

Please declare any food intolerances and any allergies when you book your place.

I attended Claire and Kath’s Pilates and Mindfulness Workshops, this winter, , and it was a relaxing and enjoyable ways to spend a Saturday.
I go to one of Claire’s Millstream Pilates Classes on a weekly basis,so I know that the Workshop would be friendly and fun.
If you are new to Pilates, it will give you a  Teasy Taster of what Pilates is all about. If  you are more experienced it is good opportunity to relax and get back to basics.
Kath’s Mindfulness session was Thought provoking and something we should all be practicing, for our well being.
It was also nice to meet like minded people and the House and Gardens also added  into the enchanting environment.
‘Don’t  let the price put you off, I almost didn’t book, but Ive recently decided ‘You only have one Life, and you have to make the best of it. I work  hard in a stressful Job, so I deserve time for me, to look after myself in Mind and Body. If you are thinking about attending go for it book a place.
